Increase in registrations and charity donations

Registration for the 2018 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon here at and charity collection at goes wonderfully. Compared to the same date last year registrations have gone up 24% and charity collection 98%.

Registered participants are now 6720. Most of them have registered for the 10 km, around 2900 runners, and second most for the half marathon, 2000 runners. Just over 1400 runners are registered for the marathon and about 350 for the 600 m and 3 km fun runs. 2755 runners are foreign guests. Most of the guests coming from overseas are from USA, 855 runners, and second most from the UK, 346 runners.

Just over 8 millions ISK have already been collected for charity at At the same date last year a bit more than 4 millions ISK had been collected. More than 2000 runners are now collecting donations at for 140 different charity organizations.

The Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon is organized by Reykjavik Sports Union, union of sports clubs in Reykjavik.
