The search and rescue team Kyndill has been active since 1960 in search and rescue as well as preventive work. The team also handles storm assistance, asset rescue and various projects that benefit the community as a whole. All of the team's work is of course done on a voluntary basis, but all income is used for the operation of the equipment available, maintenance of housing and to buy any kind of rescue equipment. Now we are buying a new Buggy car. It will be very good to have that car when we need to drive over a wet sand and in other circumstances where its difficult to use big superjeeps. Then we need to make changes to our Nissan Patrol to make sure he will be ready for search and rescue. We also want finish to put new steel and windows on the walls in Kyndils house. These are the three biggest things we want to do this year if we have enough money for that. Maintaining a strong rescue operation and making sure that all equipment is in order when needed is certainly a challenge, but all worth it in the end. To get an injured person from the highlands or glaciers of the country into the hands of ambulance personnel in no worse condition than when we arrived is what we members are passionate about. When this succeeds, we members of Kyndill are handling a gift. And all days of the year we are ready to handle a gift like that.
