Prizes

All the runners that finish the race will receive a medal. The top three runners in 10K race, half marathon and marathon will also receive special awards. These prizes will be handed out at the stage at the finishing area in Laekjargata after the race.

Prize money

The top three male, female and non-binary runners in the 10K race, half marathon and marathon will receive prize money, which will be paid in Icelandic krona's (ISK). *At least 3 in each category must finish the race for it to be an official competition.

Race record

If the race record in the marathon or half marathon is broken a record bonus will be paid. The bonus is 100,000 ISK for a marathon race record and 50,000 ISK for a half marathon race record. The record holders in the marathon are Ceslovas Kundrotas (LTU) 2:17:06 (male) and Angharad Mair (GBR) 2:38:47 (female). Benjamin Serem (KEN) is the record holder in half marathon male 1:04:09 and Martha Ernstdóttir (ISL) has the record in half marathon female 1:11:40.

Trophy

The first three male, female and non-binary runners in the 10K, half marathon and marathon will receive a trophy. The Islandsbanka Reykjavik Marathon partners also give out rewards.

Age groups

Age group awards are given for first place in the male, female and non-binary age groups. The age group awards will be handed out at the Islandsbanki branch in the week after the race. This is done to ensure that the results are correct before the prize is awarded.
