International Partnership: Reykjavik Marathon & Pittsburgh Marathon
Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon and the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon have launched a new international partnership connecting two unique running destinations. The collaboration aims to inspire runners to experience both events and explore two very different cities through a shared passion for running.
The DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, as part of a full race weekend held May 2–3, 2026. The scenic course takes runners across Pittsburgh’s historic bridges, along its three rivers, and through vibrant neighborhoods where enthusiastic spectators create an unforgettable race-day atmosphere.
The Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon, held each August in the world’s northernmost capital, offers runners a unique experience through colorful city streets, along the waterfront, and in a festive community atmosphere where residents actively take part in cheering runners on.
As sister marathons, the two events will work together to highlight their cities as exciting running destinations and encourage runners to “Run Pittsburgh, Experience Reykjavik or vice versa.”
