Every year, more and more people are diagnosed with a lung disease worldwide. Lung diseases are now the third most common cause of death in the world today and that applies to Iceland as well.

The Icelandic Lung Association was founded on 1997. The main goal of the organization is to work on the welfare and interest issues of lung patients by e.g. keeping up active social activities, encouraging information and research on the diseases and its consequences, and focusing on prevention issues, counseling and information on the rights of the patients.
